Today R227ea is considered as the refrigerant which can be used in the long term from the ecological point of view as it is based on a maximum of experience. R236fa can also be taken into account beside R227ea as it can also be used - with ambient temperatures exceeding 80°C - because of the high critical point. Today the partly halogenized refrigerant R124 is an old alternative. Because of the high ambient temperatures , 3 alternatives are given that can be divided into temperature ranges:
R134a A refrigerant which can be used for many refrigeration-related applications at ambient temperatures of up to 60°C , CFC-free, with a relatively low greenhouse potential. Advantageous from the energetic point of view.
R227ea A refrigerant for ambient temperatures of up to 80°C , CFC-free, relatively low greenhouse potential, advantageous from the energetic point of view, widely and completely tested, the refrigerant based on most of the experience made.
R236fa A refrigerant for ambient temperatures of up to 85°C, CFC-free, slightly increased greenhouse potential, somewhat less advantageous at high temperatures from the energetic point of view.
The refrigerants indicated above can be used in the long term and are in concordancy with international specifications regarding refrigerants. They are not combustible and thus meet the high safety requirements in the field of air conditioners for crane cabins.
